EMDR Therapy
Release Healing, Transform Faster, and Reclaim Your Well-being
What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, or EMDR, can help in processing unresolved trauma. The process involves addressing an unresolved traumatic memory using bilateral brain stimulation. This can be done through bilateral eye movements, bilateral tapping, or listening to alternating ear-to-ear music.
By engaging both sides of the brain, we tap into your brain’s inherent healing ability to address unresolved traumatic memories. Once processed, you will be able to recall the memory but no long feel intense negative emotions or beliefs associated with it. This process is not about forgetting the past, but rather changing how those memories affect you, so you can navigate the present with a clearer mind and a stronger sense of self.
How Does EMDR Work?
There are four stages in EMDR:
Goal Setting
We will identify your goals for EMDR. We will discuss your history of stressful or traumatic events and beliefs about yourself that have emerged from these events.
Preparing ahead by creating a plan
Next, we will identify current coping skills and discuss your support system. We will develop a coping plan for coping skills that you can utilize when faced with current triggering situations.
Reprocessing old experiences…
This is where the magic of EMDR occurs! In this stage, we will process emotions, thoughts, and memories that you are wanting to heal from. We will use bilateral eye movement or other forms of bilateral stimulation.
… To make room for new ones
Lastly, we'll focus on integrating your new emotions, thoughts, and memories into your life as you progress forward.
